Where exactly a ‘good idea’ comes from is almost impossible to say (perhaps it’s something like a subconscious reduction and unification of more consciously absorbed stimuli?), but once something pops up I instinctively know whether it’s ‘something’ or ‘nothing’.

Who or what inspired you to take up the piano and pursue a career in music ? Actually as my both parents are pianists, it was quite natural for me to start playing the piano, when I was about 5 or 6 years old. And I began practicing with them, before meeting my first teachers….
Listen as much as you can to other lessons. You learn so much from observing! The teacher says something and you simply notate it. (I even have notes from masterclasses saying “don’t teach like this”.) And don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t understand why you should or shouldn’t do something, the teacher has a duty to tell you.
Long-term working relationships (for example, with my band) are essential in developing and supporting one’s own musical language. Every ensemble or orchestra has its own character: this is its strength and weakness at the same time. As a musician you always have respect for this – then you can create amazing results.
